UNDULATION : The Starry Night... Dedicated to Vincent Van Gogh
Special silver chrome paint is used. The blue shining area on the screen is the result of the application of a certain stimulus that slightly shifts the uniform array of nano-sized silver particles, resulting in an array that reacts only to the blue wavelengths of visible light. In other words, the blue color you see here is the pure blue color emitted by the sun, which can be seen by the human eye. It is the exact color of the blue sky, the blue ocean, and the blue-purple sky at dusk...the very essence of blue.
Van Gogh, whom I have always admired. His masterpiece "Starry Moonlit Night" has never left my mind since I was a child. When I started using a special silver chrome paint for my own works, I sometimes noticed that the silver paint film, which was supposed to be full chrome or mirror-like before, changed to a mysterious bluish color, which puzzled me at first. However, as I looked at the sudden appearance of the blue color and the depth of the blue color, I could not help but think that the blue color was the same as the color of the blue night sky in Van Gogh's "Starry Moonlit Night.
When I learned that the blue color that suddenly changed from silver was actually the wavelength of blue in visible light, and when I understood the reason for this change, I was driven to try to express Van Gogh's Starry Moonlit Night someday using the special techniques and approaches that I had come to know and love. In late April of 2024, I had the opportunity to put together all of my ideas into a work of art. Of course, it was all done with the utmost respect and homage to Van Gogh.
What would Van Gogh say if I told him, "If you use this special paint made of pure silver, you can paint the real night sky?
