UNDULATION OBJECT #02
As we have mentioned several times in other sections of this website, the fusion of organic and inorganic materials. This is also the theme of UNDULATION. The inorganic object shown here is a rather extreme-looking inorganic object. It is an inorganic object with a rather extreme appearance. This is a part used in Harley-Davidson motorcycles, and is called a belt pulley. Harley-Davidson uses a transmission device called a drive belt (in the past, a chain was used) to transmit the rotational force generated by the engine to the rear wheel.
The side of the ring has some traces of toothing, so you can imagine the role of the ring as a motorcycle part. The top surface of the outer ring has been drilled to match the number of teeth on the ring, and the spokes that support the ring have been drilled with three different sized holes. The size and placement of the holes, as well as the final shape of the holes, were done with the know-how we have cultivated through Harley-Davidson customization.
It is very rare to get a good result for motorcycle and automobile parts, which are designed in a perfect circle and each part is based on absolute values as an industrial product, by attempting an aesthetic approach. I think we have reached a level where it can be used as an "object". As a test... I placed air plants, which show a variety of expressions in all directions, in a uniform space. Also, I think large red dahlias would go well with it.
